Independence Day celebrations - (13th August 2025)

The Department organized group activities to celebrate the 79^th Independence Day on 13^th August 2025 to remember the day our country got freedom. Rangoli making and poster making session were organized and students from the department participated with great enthusiasm.

The students explained their message through Rangoli and Poster. Students also recited poems linked to the occasion. Refreshments showcasing the tri-colour were served.

Peace and Harmony- 6^th August 2025:

Apart from teaching the students their respective syllabus, the Department of Biochemistry also engages creative activities to augment the talents of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. 6^th and 9^th August are commemorated as days when science was ill used for mass destruction 80 years ago and atomic bombs were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To mark these days as remembrance in history, the department organized a poster making and essay writing competition to reflect global peace and nuclear disarmament. M.Sc. and Ph.D. students participated in both the activities. 17 students engaged in poster making activity while 13 students participated in essay writing.

Topics given for both activities were as follows:

Essay writing competition: 1. Hiroshima & Nagasaki- Never Again
2. Are we making our planet “Green” or painting it “Red”

Poster making competition: 1. Fly Doves, not Drones
2. Choose Peace Over Power

The essays written by students were also judged on various criteria including content, creativity, expression and impact. The students who won the essay writing competition are as follows:

First Prize: Ms. Bhumi Kumar (M.Sc., I^st year)

Second Prize: Ms. Elaf Ateeque (Ph.D. Student)

Third Prize: Ms. Lydia Islary (Ph.D. Student)

Very innovative and thought provoking posters were made by all the participants reflecting their creativity to execute their ideas in form of paintings. Besides, the students wrote brilliant essays expressing their thoughts in a very well structured manner with proper introduction, content and conclusion. The posters were judged on various criteria including content, visual appeal, graphics and originality of idea. The winning posters were as follows:
